West Campus Apartment Review: 26 West (Updated for 2024)

As a UT student myself, I know it can be overwhelming looking for student housing in West Campus.

While Rambler has a full suite of amenities, including a courtyard pool, on-site coffee shop, comfortable study spaces and more, and floor plans ranging from studios to six-bedroom townhomes (and everything in between) to fit a variety of student needs, we understand that it is important to consider all of your options. 

In order to make sure you have all of the info you need, we have compiled this honest review of 26 West to help you feel confident throughout your search for student housing.

The Basics

Before we dive into the details, here are some quick statistics to give you a feel for the 26 West community:

Location 

Just a few minute walk from the UT Austin campus, 26 West is located on 26th Street between Rio Grande and Nueces.

Located on the northeast side of West Campus, it is only a few blocks away from student favorites such as Cain & Abel’s, Bar Moxy, and Whataburger. It is in close proximity to various Greek sorority and fraternity houses, including Chi Omega, Zeta Beta Tau, and Phi Kappa Psi, and across the street from Rambler.

Amenities 

26 West has a fitness center, a rooftop basketball court, and a bark park for furry friends. Located next to their on-site management center, they also have an Academic Success Center with iMacs and free printing.

The property boasts one of the first resort-style pool areas to open in West Campus, which includes a hot tub, lounge pavilions, grilling station, and a variety of seating.

26 West is a gated community with limited access for added security, plus a courtesy patrol officer. They have an Amazon locker in the parking garage for secure package deliveries.

As for the inside of the rooms, all units come fully furnished and offer hardwood-style flooring. The rooms have internet, cable TV, fully equipped kitchens with stainless steel appliances, walk-in closets, and a full-sized washer and dryer. 

Parking

26 West has one of the largest parking garages in West Campus. Parking is available on a first-come, first-serve basis at an additional monthly cost. They also offer secure parking and storage options for bicycles and scooters.

Floor Plans & Pricing

26 West has fully furnished 1×1, 2×1, 2×2, 4×2, and 4×4 floor plan options. All floor plans include a balcony or juliette balcony, and one of their 2×2 floor plans includes a study.

At the time of publication on December 2023, rates for 2024 – 2025 at 26 West range from the $1,300s to over $2,100 per person, per month, depending on unit type. All rates are subject to change. You can find current availability and pricing on 26 West’s floor plans page.

They also have SMART housing options available for those who qualify. At the time of publication, SMART housing is available in their 1×1 floor plans.
